America Saves Week: Assess Your Saving Habits
Re-evaluate your saving habits during America Saves Week.
February 27 through March 4 is America Saves Week. Do you save a portion of your income to bolster up saving outlets like retirement account(s), an emergency fund, and other saving opportunities? Or do you utilize a budget to make sure you don’t spend more income than you actually have?
According to the tenth annual America Saves Week survey, fewer than two-fifths (38 percent) of American households report good or excellent progress in meeting their savings needs, with over one-quarter (27 percent) indicating no progress at all. With less than half of American households meeting savings needs, it may be time to look at your own saving habits. For example, you may need to show more attention to paying down any consumer debt you carry.
So take America Saves Week to refocus your attention on important saving habits you should incorporate in your life. And most importantly, create a plan with goals to enhance your saving habits. According to the same survey mentioned above, those with a plan save more successfully.
